Freecharge—an online recharge solution for your prepaid Mobile, DTH and Data card. It provides recharges of almost all leading telecom(mobile) operators like Airtel, Aircel, Vodafone, BSNL, Idea etc., DTH like BIG TV, Dish TV, Tata Sky, etc. and Data Cards.
But, there is a hype that the, company says—“India’s 1st FREE Online Prepaid Mobile Recharge & Top Up Service Provider Company.”
How come FreeCharge is FREE?
The company says—
Freecharge.in offers Equal Amount of FREE Coupons & Shopping Vouchers of top Indian food joints and retailers to the user for the Amount user Recharge her/his Prepaid mobile DTH or Data card on the website. Coupons can be used to save big on purchases in your day to day life. You save money on your eat outs, movies, gaming, music, grocery and more.
But is it TRUE?
It is always a controversial topic that, does coupons and vouchers save money? —to a certain extent it saves money. But, sometime does not.
For example, I have given a dummy number for mobile recharge amount of Rs. 100/- and applied a coupon (but, it’s optional) worth Rs. 100/-. I will get that shoppers coupon but, Freecharge.in asks Rs. 10/- as handling charges. So, value of the discount becomes Rs. 90/-. Because you have to pay total of Rs. 110/- for this mobile recharge.
Now, whenever you go to that shop to avail the discount you received, there is most of the time a minimum purchase amount to get this product/service delivered to you at free of cost shipping charges or you have to pay for the shipping charges of Rs. 50/- (minimum amount most of the time).
So you saved—Rs. 100/- (coupon you got) – Rs. 10/-(freecharge’s handling charge) – Rs. 50/- (shipping cost of shopper if exists) = Rs. 40/-
So, you got this recharge at Rs. 60/- as per the above example.
To some extent you save money—save the full money if you meet the shoppers criteria or doesn’t avail the coupon to get nothing. It’s your choice.
So. from FreeCharge’s point of view, claim of “Freecharge.in is India’s 1st FREE Online Prepaid Mobile Recharge & Top Up Service Provider Company” is true.
