The Galaxy SII has been claimed to be the best available phone on the current market. So, how is this true and what separates this Samsung device from the rest?
Well the phone has a number of excellent innovations that all work very well together to make the phone greater than the sum of its parts.
The phone’s biggest strength is its display. The 4.3in Super AMOLED Plus display is astoundingly beautiful to use for surfing as well as watching footage and viewing images. It offers unparalleled colours and blacks. The shadow detail is immense and the contrasts excellent. We were very impressed with the lack of motion blurs during films and the whole thing screams of innovation and quality.
The phone also has a very fast chip. Though this 1.2GHz Tegra 2 chip is also used in other devices, it works very well in the Samsung due to its use with the software. We really enjoyed the pace filled and lag free experience of the phone. There was no way we could really slow the phone down or cause it to glitch and this is a very enjoyable challenge to fail.
The device, as we have said uses a Samsung created user interface known as TouchWiz which makes a lot of difference in the way the phone performs. The interface is very similar to that of the Apple iPhone’s, though it has all the Android 2.3 innovations that Apple still fails to have. We found it intuitive and easy to use and were all in all very impressed.
The camera – generally Samsung’s strength – is also great once again. The phone has an 8mp camera with a great LED. This can take 1080p footage or 8mp photos. There is also a 2mp front facing camera for people that wish to video call and this is also top quality.
The phone doesn’t disappoint in the looks department either and we found it to be an attractive device, with its singular home button and its amazingly slim design. The Galaxy SII is only 8.49mm thick, which makes it one of the slimmest phones available in the UK market. It all comes together to form a very attractive and amazingly powerful phone which leads you to see that good things do come in tiny packages sometimes. With all the excellent features on board it is easy to understand how Samsung have managed to sell over 10 million Galaxy SII deals in just a few months.
